In celebration of the life and music of the preeminent Jazz composer, Star People will perform the music of Wayne Shorter .

Star People began as a a group dedicated to performing music of Miles Davis and quickly expanded to include music from many great masters of the 1940’s through the 2000’s. For this special feature performance the group will revisit tunes from their repertoire written by the great Wayne Shorter and will also present new arrangements from his vast creative output.

Wayne Shorter came to prominence with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers in the 1960’s. He was a member of Miles Davis’ classic 1960’s quintet and then went on to form Weather Report with Josef Zawinul. His own groups featured an eclectic blend of Hard Bop, Jazz Fusion, Brazilian and Free Jazz idioms. Expect all of these styles to merge in the interpretations of Star People.
