Where:

Marty Boratin & Susan Tanner’s House
7341 Nelson Drive
Hamburg, NY 14075

NOTE: There’s ample parking on the street, along the road between my house and Eckhardt Road, and room for several cars in my driveway. Carpooling is encouraged. Please do not park in front of or near 7361 Nelson, my in-laws’ old house. The new neighbors are weird about it…
(you CAN park on the opposite side of the street – several of my nice neighbors have come over to let me know…)

Music starts around 7:00pm, open for socializing and pot-luck and possible cookout at 5:00.

As it’s early October, the show could possibly be outside, and if the weather doesn’t cooperate, I have room for about 50 people seated, and chairs/couches/stools for most. Maybe a little room for dancing…

If the weather looks promising, and you want to come early for a cook-out, I’m planning on putting some food out around 5:00. Potluck, and maybe bring something to throw on the grills if it looks like the weather will cooperate. BYOB. And maybe bring a lawn chair or blanket if it looks like it will be outdoors (although I have plenty of chairs). Well-behaved kids are admitted free. Dogs welcome, and there’s plenty of room to run.

RSVP not necessary, but helpful, especially if the weather is looking menacing, and an RSVP regarding any food you may be bringing to share is always helpful as well…

Feel free to forward this around to anyone you feel might be interested….

Sorry for the late notice on the details for this one but I’ve been tied up with the reopening of Mohawk Place, some new complications from my December aneurysm surgery, plus having the tip of my right index finger recently amputated as a result of my aneurysm-related hospital stay this past winter has me typing even slower than usual…

The Bad Penny Pleasuremakers are a true collaboration of good friends and talented New Orleans-based musicians who just really love playing the good old good stuff from the early days of jazz, blues & country music. They keep the tradition of the music alive by honoring its spirit while creating a new spark. They’re predominantly a traditional jazz band with strings, washboard, reeds, keys (and the occasional cornet thrown in). Everyone in the band is a multi-instrumentalist, and the best part — they all sing!
They are: Matt Bell (guitar/banjo/vocals), Joy Patterson (percussion/vocals), Coleman Akin (violin/guitar/vocals), Jonathan Greene (reeds), Joplin Parnell (piano/vocals), and Max Bien Kahn (bass/banjo).

They’re playing Fplkfaces Fest on Saturday and then again on Sunday morning before heading to my house…

“The Bad Penny Pleasuremakers, and their shortened version, the Bad Pennies Quartet, offer Louisiana-drenched traditional jazz, ragtime, and acoustic and country blues from the pre-WWII era, all made for dancing. Led by guitarist and singer Matt Bell and percussionist Joy Patterson, both groups get audiences on the floor at clubs and festivals with tunes like Jimmy Rodgers’ “Mississippi Delta Blues.”
