SUMMARY:The Travelin' McCourys at Buffalo Iron Works | MAR 17
DESCRIPTION:The Travelin’ McCourys return to Buffalo Iron Works on March 17th\, 2026! \nThe Travelin’ McCourys: \nFrom a source deep\, abundant\, and pure the river flows. It’s there on the map\, marking place and time. Yet\, the river changes as it remains a constant\, carving away at the edges\, making new pathways\, gaining strength as it progresses forward. The Travelin’ McCourys are that river. \nThe McCoury brothers—Ronnie (mandolin) and Rob (banjo)—were born into the bluegrass tradition. Talk about a source abundant and pure: their father\, Del\, is among the most influential and successful musicians in the history of the genre. Years on the road with Dad in the Del McCoury Band honed their knife-edge chops and encouraged the duo to imagine how traditional bluegrass could cut innovative pathways into 21st century music. \n“If you put your mind\, your skills\, and your ability to it\, I think you can make just about anything work on bluegrass instruments\,” says Ronnie. “That’s a really fun part of this—figuring the new stuff out and surprising the audience.” The newest member of the band\, fiddler Christian Ward\, joined after Jason Carter moved on to pursue a solo career. Bassist Alan Bartram\, and Cody Kilby on guitar\, they assembled a group that could take what they had in their DNA\, the traditions they learned and heard\, and push the music forward. In fact\, the band became the only group to have each of its members recognized with an International Bluegrass Music Association Award for their instrument at least once. There were peers\, too\, that could see bluegrass as both historic and progressive. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees The Allman Brothers Band\, improv-rock kings Phish\, and jamband contemporary Keller Williams were just a few that formed a mutual admiration society with the ensemble. \nThe band played the Allman’s Wanee Festival and guitarist Warren Haynes’ Christmas Jam—an annual holiday homecoming of Southern music. An early-years jam with the Lee Boys was hailed by many as the highlight of the evening\, and with the video catching fire online\, earned a legion of new\, young fans of their supercharged combination of sacred steel\, R&B\, and bluegrass. \nThere were unforgettable collaborations with country smash Dierks Bentley\, onstage magic jamming with titans String Cheese Incident and Phish\, cutting an album with Keller (Pick)\, and creating the Grateful Ball—a tribute concert-turned-tour bridging bluegrass with the iconic music of the Grateful Dead. \n“That’s something that’s part of us being who we are\,” says Ronnie. “It comes\, too\, with us plugging in. It gets louder\, for sure. We can’t be another version of our dad’s band. It wouldn’t make any sense for us to do that.” \nTheir concerts became can’t-miss events\, whether headlining historic venues or as festival favorites\, drawing the love and respect of a growing fanbase craving their eclectic repertoire. At the 2016 edition of DelFest\, an annual gathering of the genre’s best aptly named for the McCoury patriarch\, the band delivered the take-away highlight. Rolling Stone called it “a sublime combination of rock and bluegrass\, contemporary and classic\, old and young. The best set of the festival…” The river was going new places\, getting stronger. It was time to re-draw the map. \nBuffalo Iron Works \n49 Illinois St\, Buffalo\, NY 14203 \nTickets: $30 ADV/ $35 DOS \nDoors: 7:00pm \nShow: 8:00pm \nAges: 18+ \nAll-In Pricing Notice \nIn accordance with New York State law\, all ticketed events must display the total price of admission upfront — including all fees\, charges\, and taxes. SUMMARY:Thievery Corporation - Buffalo
DESCRIPTION:MNM Presents \nThievery Corporation30th Anniversary TourFriday March 27\, 2026Buffalo Riverworks 7pm \nOn sale now 🌐mnmpresents.com \nThievery Corporationthieverycorporation.com \nThirty years into their genre-defying electronic music career\, Thievery Corporation’s founding principles of D.I.Y. and inclusion have become key themes in mainstream social conversation. After a dozen highly acclaimed full-length albums\, remix LPs\, concert recordings\, and over two decades of incendiary live performances that have thrilled audiences worldwide\, Thievery Corporation’s music and message is more relevant and important now than ever. \nThat lack of filter enabled Garza and Hilton to mine their musical inspirations and create one of the most unique bodies of work in electronic music\, respectfully incorporating tastes of international cultural styles\, without ever falling into the trap of cultural appropriation. “We always wondered: with so much incredible music in the world\, why would anyone limit themselves to one genre? Well\, we found out – it’s far easier to stay in one lane than to genre hop!” laughs Hilton. Garza elaborates: “When we started\, we were influenced by music from all over the world\, flipping through bins in second hand record stores for LP’s from Brazil\, India\, Iran\, Jamaica\, jazz records…..we wanted to make music where you didn’t know whether it was recorded today or a decade ago.” Thievery Corporation’s music has always looked toward the future while paying homage to the past\, starting with their groundbreaking debut LP\, 1996’s “Sounds From The Thievery Hi-Fi\,” which both introduced the world to Garza and Hilton as producers and set their course as pioneers of song-based electronic music with wildly diverse vocalists. \nThe band’s legendary D.C. headquarters\, the Eighteenth Street Lounge\, became an epicenter for a diverse group of people and staff from all over the world\, which in turn had a profound influence on their musical output. “D.C. was very cosmopolitan\, lots of places to see international live music and jazz\,” says Garza. “We’d run into people from all over the world and invite them to play with us – so Thievery became an extension of that\, both on our records and in our live performances.” Indeed\, Hilton and Garza’s “Outernational” approach created a world reflected by the artist’s ideals of diversity and acceptance. “25 years after we started\, it seems like the world is catching up\,” Garza opines. “Social consciousness is more mainstream\, awareness of the importance of inclusivity…it’s so encouraging to see so many people working towards these goals in America.” Hilton agrees. “Thievery is a reflection of who we are\, it evolved from our musical tastes. Artists who were for the people\, like The Clash\, Fela Kuti\, Manu Chao were so important to us\, and engaging in social ideas has always been a part of what we’ve tried to do.” People don’t refer to Thievery Corporation as “World Music\,” but it’s safe to say that their music and ethos is global in its scope and ahead of its time at every turn. \nIn a live setting\, Thievery Corporation avoids any electronic dance music tropes. Yes\, you’ll dance\, sweat and put your hands in the air….but their concerts are true performances\, with a killer band of players and an array of vocalists from diverse global cultures. No two shows feel the same. “Our shows are VERY live\, lots of energy\, the com-bination of multiple instruments and singers that take you on a musical journey\,” says Garza. “We have a sitar player\, songs are in different languages – it’s a multicultural experience\, people connect to the band and to each other\, it’s beautiful.” With a world cautiously beginning to emerge from isolation and towards communal events\, Garza is eager to return Thievery Corporation to live performance. “I feel like people have been waiting to celebrate together after being forced apart for too long. We’re all craving that.” \nEric Hilton’s presence at Thievery gigs\, however\, has become an increasingly rare event. “I never really embraced touring; some of the world tours were interesting\, seeing new places and cultures\,” he says. “For me\, touring was tourism. The creative process of making music is more my thing.” And Thievery Corporation have brought the sounds of the world to listeners throughout each of their albums. “There are so many highlights for me. 2014’s Saudade is my favorite record that we’ve done\, a real creative stretch for us. Quiet music is hard to make! Symphonik also. To hear our music done with an orchestra was incredible.” Hilton concedes that over time live performance influenced the studio records. “After Cosmic Game (2011)\, we orchestrated jam sessions and built the records from those. For Temple of I and I (2014)\, we went to Jamaica to jam and record\, which gave that record a different feel and authenticity.” \nLooking back over their career\, Rob Garza and Eric Hilton acknowledge that what drives each of them may be different\, but the mashup of personalities\, sounds\, cultures and experiences birthed something wholly unique. “We love all kinds of music\, which is why Thievery Corporation sounds the way it does\,” the founding partners agree. “We couldn’t possibly incorporate all our tastes into the music\, but we do it more than most.” By not following trends or the whims of major labels\, and embracing the cultural diversities that make the world such a wondrous place\, Thievery Corporation has created a legacy that runs deep and continues to expand. \n“We’ve left nothing undone. We far exceeded what we thought we would do\,” Hilton and Garza agree. And Thievery Corporation’s music will continue on to reverberate and influence the next generation of listeners with an ear toward a global musical experience. \nw/ special guests \nProduced bymnmpresents.com

SUMMARY:Danielle Nicole
DESCRIPTION:Sportsmens presentsDanielle NicoleTuesday\, March 31\, 2026 $25.005pm Doors\, 7pm Show \n“That girl gets down to the nitty gritty.” Koko Taylor \nDanielle Nicole\, singer\, bassist and songwriter hailing from Kansas City\, Missouri\, has spent her life making music and pleasing fans\, domestically and abroad. Nicole was initially influenced by her parents playing in bands and working around the KC music scene. She recalls seeing her father playing blues guitar and her mother singing with the group Little Eva and The Works and it set off a switch. With her two brothers\, Nick and Kris\, they formed the “Heavy Blues” band Trampled Under Foot\, which found initial popularity in the Midwest\, then exploded worldwide for over 10 years. \nThere has been no shortage of praise; Guitar World stated\, “Danielle Nicole has won respect and admiration throughout the American blues scene for her soulful\, inventive playing and tireless work ethic.” Blues Music Magazine effused\, “Nicole brings it\, bakes it\, and serves it up blazing on a silver soul-rocking platter.” The Kansas City Star declared\, “Blues and soul vocalists tend to improve as they age. Bettye LaVette is among the artists who became increasingly believable as she matured. Danielle Nicole appears to be following in her footsteps.” \nDanielle embarked on her solo career with Wolf Den (2015)\, which peaked at #2 on the Billboard Blues charts and amassed 7.5 million Spotify streams. Cry No More (2018) followed\, the record was nominated for a Grammy in the contemporary blues category and debuted at number one in the Billboard Blues Charts – it also boasts over Spotify streams in excess of 10 million. SUMMARY:The Dreaming Tree: Dave Matthews Tribute at Iron Works | APR 11
DESCRIPTION:The Dreaming Tree returns to Buffalo Iron Works on Saturday\, April 11th\, 2025 with a tribute to Dave Matthews Band! \nThe Dreaming Tree: \n“The Dave Matthews Tribute Band (The Dreaming Tree) is one of the first and most successful DMB Tribute Bands in existence. Formed in 2001\, the band’s enormous following has them at the very top of their game. \nIn 2000\, drummer Ryan Puckhaber set out to find a singer and guitarist who sounded like Dave Matthews\, a saxophone player\, a bass player interested in playing DMB\, a guitarist whose influences ranged all over the map\, and a violinist whose influences were mainly Boyd Tinsley\, in Buffalo\, NY…. you’re probably thinking piece of cake right? \nWell after months of searching\, The Dreaming Tree was formed in late 2001. “I remember our first show\, the owner of a club called Big Shotz in Buffalo\, wouldn’t book us until he heard us in a rehearsal.” said drummer Ryan Puckhaber “I’d imagine for fear that no way could a band pull off such a complex sound. He came down\, and I’d like to say the rest was history\, but it just wasn’t that easy. We played hundreds and hundreds of shows and our following absolutely exploded. Next thing we know\, it’s 12 years later and they just keep getting bigger and bigger” Recent shows have eclipsed 1000 people in attendance in the Buffalo area . Although the lineup has changed here and there\, the band feels they have found the best people for the job. “Playing in this band has enabled me to travel the world playing with different musicians\, and I truly feel we have found the absolute best musicians in the country for this band. Sometimes I catch myself on stage watching in awe that I am able to share the stage with such amazing musicians.” \nOne thing is for sure\, if you go to a Dreaming Tree show\, close your eyes and listen…you just might think Dave Matthews Band is 20 feet away.” \nhttps://www.facebook.com/DMTBDreamingTree/ \nBuffalo Iron Works \n49 Illinois St Buffalo\, NY 14203 \nTickets: $20 ADV / $25 DOS \nDoors: 7:00pm \nShow: 8:00pm \nAges: 18+ \nAll-In Pricing Notice \nIn accordance with New York State law\, all ticketed events must display the total price of admission upfront — including all fees\, charges\, and taxes. SUMMARY:Yarn - Sportsmens
DESCRIPTION:Tickets onsale Friday\, January 16thSportsmens presentsYarnWednesday\, April 15\, 2026 7pm$25.00You might expect a band that calls itself Yarn to\, naturally\, tend to spin a yarn or two. “That’s what we do\, we tell stories\, live and in the studio\, truth and fiction”\,singer/songwriter Blake Christiana insists. “We don’t always opt for consistency. There’s a different vibe onstage from what comes through in our recordings. There’s a difference in every show as well\, you never know what you’re going to get.” \nYarn’s ability to persevere ought to come as no great surprise\, especially for a band that spent two years honing their chops during a Monday night residency at the famed Kenny’s Castaway in New York’s Greenwich Village. In effect\, it allowed them to rehearse onstage\, mostly in front of audiences that often ranged in size from five to a hundred people on any given night. 10 studio albums followed — Yarn (2007)\, Empty Pockets (2008)\, Leftovers Part One (2009)\, Come On In (2010)\, Leftovers Part 2 (2011)\, Almost Home (2012)\, Shine the Light On (2013)\, This Is The Year (2016)\, and Lucky 13 parts 1 & 2 (2019). The band then took to the road\, playing upwards of 170 shows a year and sharing stages with such superstars as Dwight Yoakam\, Charlie Daniels\,Railroad Earth\, Marty Stuart\, Allison Krauss\, Leon Russell\, Jim Lauderdale\, Leftover Salmon\, Amos Lee\, The Lumineers and many more. They performed at any number of prestigious venues — Mountain Stage\, Daytrotter\, the Orange Peel in Asheville\, the Fox Theater in Boulder\, the 9:30 Club in D.C\, South by Southwest\, the Strawberry Festival\, Rhythm and Roots\, Meadowgrass\, Floydfest and so much more\, eventually surpassing 1\,000 shows\, half a million miles and performances in nearly every state. They’ve driven nonstop\, made countless radio station appearances\, driven broken-down RVs and watched as their van caught fire. They’ve paid their dues and then some\, looking forward even as they were forced to glance behind. \nIndeed\, the accolades piled up quickly along the way. They have landed on the Grammy ballot 4 times\, garnered nods from the Americana Music Association\, placed top five on both Radio and Records and the AMA album charts\, garnered airplay on Sirius XM\, iTunes\, Pandora\, CNN\, and CMT\, been streamed millions of times on Spotify\, Apple Music\, and Amazon\, and also accorded the “Download of the Day” from Rolling Stone. Shine the Light On found shared songwriting credits with John Oates (the Oates of Hall & Oates fame)\, and when audiences expressed their admiration\, it brought the band a populist cult following of diehard devotees\, popularly known as “the Yarmy.” \nIt’s proof positive that the Brooklyn and Raleigh based band have made their mark\, and in dealing with their emotions\, scars and circumstances\, they find themselves in a position to share those experiences with others who have juggled similar sentiments. \nAs Yarn look forward to their next 2 studio releases in 2023\, Blake looks to establish himself more as the songwriter he’s always been\, and not the pseudo bluegrass band\, bar band or jam band\, that Yarn often gets immediately lumped into.Although all those elements of music exist in the Yarn catalogue and their live performances\, Blake’s number one priority is and always has been “the song”.These next 2 releases are without a doubt Blake’s most personal\, polished\, and best of Yarn’s career so far. \nThe beginning of the journey to these 2 albums began around April of 2022 when Blake booked a solo show at The Down Home in Johnson City\, TN (a nod to Townes Van Zandt’s 1986 live show there and ultimate release) with the intention of making a live record. But he wanted it to be songs none of the fans and attendees had ever heard before. The problem was he hadn’t written most of them yet.He was at his crossroads\, uninspired\, bored\, exhausted and fairly insecure about his entire career up to that point. But he got to work\, and got more inspired with each new song he wrote. These songs all tell a story individually but they also tell a story as a whole\, a songwriter and musician ready to dive deeper into the music and the art for a greater result that he believes most anyone can appreciate\, relate to and enjoy.

SUMMARY:Keller Williams at Buffalo Iron Works | APR 17
DESCRIPTION:Keller Williams performs live at Buffalo Iron Works on April 17th\, 2026! \nKeller Williams:Virginian\, Keller Williams\, released his first album in 1994\, FREEK\, and has since given each of his albums a single syllable title: BUZZ\, SPUN\, BREATHE\, LOOP\, LAUGH\, HOME\, DANCE\, STAGE\, GRASS\, DREAM\, TWELVE\, LIVE\, ODD\, THIEF\, KIDS\, BASS\, PICK\, FUNK\, VAPE\, SYNC\, RAW\, SANS\, ADD\, SPEED\, CELL\, DROLL and now DEER. Each title serves as a concise summation of the concept guiding each project. Keller’s albums reflect his pursuit to create music that sounds like nothing else. Un-beholden to conventionalism\, he seamlessly crosses genre boundaries. The end product is music that encompasses rock\, jazz\, funk and bluegrass\, and always keeps the audience on their feet. Keller built his reputation initially on his engaging live performances\, no two of which are ever alike. For most of his career he has performed solo. His stage shows are rooted around Keller singing his compositions and choice cover songs\, while accompanying himself on acoustic guitar\, bass\, guitar synthesizer and drum samples; a technique called live phrase sampling or “looping”. The end result often leans toward a hybrid of alternative folk and groovy electronica\, a genre Keller jokingly calls “acoustic dance music” or ADM.” Keller’s constant evolution has led to numerous band projects as well; Keller & The Keels\, Grateful Grass\, KWahtro\, Keller and the Travelin’ McCourys\, Grateful Gospel\, More Than A Little and most recently DeadPettyKellerGrass. You can even catch him from time to time going back to his troubadour roots with his “Shut the Folk Up and Listen” series. Keller can be found playing clubs and festivals with these projects and his tried and true solo looping show\, always changing things up and keeping moving. \nBuffalo Iron Works49 Illinois St\, Buffalo\, NY 14203Tickets: $28.50 ADV/ $32 DOSDoors: 7:00pmShow: 8:00pmAges: 18+ \nAll-In Pricing NoticeIn accordance with New York State law\, all ticketed events must display the total price of admission upfront — including all fees\, charges\, and taxes. SUMMARY:The Travesties & Canela - The Big Easy in Buffalo Local Series
DESCRIPTION:The Travesties & CanelaThe Big Easy in Buffalo Local seriesSportsmen’s TavernThursday April 30\, 5pm doors\, 7pm show$15https://www.showclix.com/event/-the-travesties-canela \nThe Travesties (garage folk) & Canela (tango/string quartet)\, performing separately and together. Sally (of The Travesties) will be writing a string quartet arrangement for a Travesties original song and Vanessa (of Canela) will be writing a full rock band arrangement for a Canela original – to be performed by both bands together! \nBuffalo-based folk rock band THE TRAVESTIES breathe fire into folk songs old and new\, including a treasure trove of Americana and Irish music. Songwriter Tyler Bagwell is a historian with a busker’s voice in search of couplets within the notion that “history rhymes.” Fiddler Sally Schaefer is an ethnomusicologist with wide-ranging folk and traditional music interests. Together\, with bassist Patrick Jackson of Folkfaces and drummer Marc Smith of BTPM The Bridge\, they invent and reinvent songs highlighting events\, people\, and places of local and national note. \nCANELA is not your ordinary quartet. Augmented by bass and percussion\, we take a fresh look at what a string ensemble can accomplish and communicate when traditional boundaries of genre and style are reimagined. \nSince 2007 The Big Easy in Buffalo has brought New Orleans and Louisiana music and culture to the Western New York region several times a year for free and low-cost live performance\, as well as music education and mentoring for local musicians\, students\, and the community. Through The Big Easy in Buffalo thousands of students\, dozens of local bands\, and countless audience members in Western New York have been exposed to this unique American culture. The Big Easy in Buffalo is made possible in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Hochul and the NYS Legislature\, Erie County\, Goldfarb Financial\, Erie County Legislator Michael Kooshoian\, Buffalo.FM\, Dick & Jenny’s\, National Fuel Gas Co.\, and Sportsmen’s Tavern. \nCover poster by S Schaefer\, featuring public domain art “The Old Violin” by John Frederick Peto (c. 1890).
