SUMMARY:Driftwood
DESCRIPTION:Music has guided Driftwood to hallowed ground many times since its founding members\, Joe Kollar and Dan Forsyth\, started making music as high schoolers. Whether the Upstate New York folk rock group—which today also includes violinist Claire Byrne\, bassist Joey Arcuri\, and drummer Sam Fishman—are converting new fans on a tour across the country or playing to a devoted crowd at hero Levon Helm’s Woodstock barn\, the band’s shapeshifting approach to folk music continues to break new ground. And yet in many ways Driftwood’s latest work\, the transformative December Last Call\, finds the group coming home. \nOne of Driftwood’s biggest strength is the sheer breadth of talent in its lineup\, with Claire\, Joe\, and Dan all contributing as songwriters and vocalists. This creative push-pull\, where each selects songs to share with the group and record together\, bakes vulnerability and collaborative spirit into every recording. “It’s at the heart of what we do\,” says Dan. “Everybody has a strong love for songs\, for songwriting\, and we each appreciate everybody else and the way that they contribute to that.” \nDriftwood’s live shows operate not only as effervescent\, twang-studded musical parties\, but also as reunions for their throng of devoted listeners—folks who have started to feel less like fans and more like something bigger. This band has endured for nearly two decades because it offers a kind of community you can’t get just anywhere. \n“Driftwood is a beautiful friendship that happens to play music together\,” says Joe. “I know it’s rare. I know I’m lucky to know these people and lean on them and go through these massive life changes together.” For Driftwood\, each song is like a journal entry: cathartic to create\, yes\, but capable of unlocking new lessons—and when shared—forging new bonds.

SUMMARY:Big Shrimp: Camp Scampi Official Pre-Party at Buffalo Iron Works w/s/g Tsavo Highway
DESCRIPTION:Big Shrimp bring their “It’s As Shrimple As That” Tour to Buffalo Iron Works on Thursday\, June 4th with Tsavo Highway! \nThis will be an Official Camp Scampi Pre-Party! \nBuying a ticket IN ADVANCE will automatically enter you to win (2) FREE passes to Camp Scampi at Moe Town Music Venue in Addison\, NY at the end of August\, hosted by Big Shrimp featuring Spafford\, Jimkata\, Space Bacon\, and more. There will be smaller prizes for runner-ups as well! \nBig Shrimp: \nBig Shrimp is a young high-octane progressive improvised rock band formed in 2024 in Bridgeport\, Connecticut\, blending danceable funk\, exploratory rock\, and fearless improvisation into a sound that’s as intricate as it is infectious. Built on diverse\, catchable songwriting delivered by all four members Jared Sage Cowen (Guitar/Vocals)\, Max Perrotti (Bass/Vocals\, Daniel Cohen (Keys/Vocals)\, Henry Thomas (Drums/Vocals)\, Big Shrimp’s material has quickly earned national attention\, including placement on Spotify’s Modern Jam Band editorial playlist. \nKnown for their adventurous live shows\, the band balances tightly crafted originals with fresh\, unexpected covers — from Down Under to Elmo’s Song — all filtered through their playful\, high-energy lens. These performances have helped cultivate a fiercely loyal fanbase known as The Prawn Stars\, whose growing presence in rooms across the country has fueled the band’s rapid rise. That momentum landed Big Shrimp on Grateful Web’s “Top 12 Upcoming Jam Bands to Watch in 2026\,” further cementing their status as a breakout act. \n“They’re pure heat: long sets\, huge grooves\, and a rhythm section that feels like it could carry an entire block party by itself. Guitarist Jared Sage Cowen leads this squad on guitar to deliver a dance-worthy blend of prog rock\, blues rock\, and funk. Their fan base is growing fast because the shows are fun\, joyful\, sweaty\, and full of personality.” \n— GratefulWeb \nIn late 2025\, Big Shrimp released The Prawno Tapes\, Vol. 3\, the band’s third live album\, capturing highlights from an extensive Summer and Fall tour that included standout performances at Northlands Festival alongside Umphrey’s McGee\, moe.\, Corey Wong\, and more. The tour also saw the band supporting Spafford\, Eggy\, Big Something\, and Magic Beans\, expanding their national footprint. That momentum carried into a sold-out Phish After Party in NYC following Phish’s MSG New Year’s Eve run\, a show covered by Live For Live Music. \n“…yielding some of the funkiest\, most cathartic and most primal energy of the set. With catchy melodies\, impressive solos\, complex arrangements\, and shifting tempos and moods\, the band kept you on your toes and bobbing your head the entire show.” \n— NYSMusic \nHalloween has become a signature pillar of the Big Shrimp experience. In 2025\, the band unleashed their 2nd Annual Halloween Extravaganza (and Sage Entertainment’s 8th produced)\, transforming the show into an engaging\, theatrical spectacle. The night featured an original\, story-driven reinterpretation of Forrest Gump\, interwoven with original debuts\, themed covers\, massive props\, colossal shrimp\, boats\, ping pong tournaments\, and more — a tradition the band plans to expand annually. \nAlongside their live momentum\, Big Shrimp has gained significant traction on TikTok\, where viral performance clips and behind-the-scenes content consistently reach 20\,000+ views\, earning the band a reputation as one of the most viral young bands in the jam and improvised rock scene. This online growth has translated directly into packed rooms and a rapidly expanding national fanbase. \nCurrently\, Big Shrimp is charging through an extensive 2026 Winter Tour\, highlighted by four Colorado debut performances\, including a headlining appearance at the legendary Cervantes’\, alongside a Northeast run featuring Twiddle’s Ryan Dempsey as support for two consecutive nights. On the studio front\, the band released their debut single “Rex” on January 9th\, the first taste of their forthcoming debut studio album. \nWith more tours\, festival appearances — including breaking ground on one of their own — additional live releases\, and their debut album on the horizon\, Big Shrimp is charging full steam into 2026 with no signs of slowing down. \nBuffalo Iron Works \n49 Illinois St\, Buffalo\, NY 14203 \nTickets: $15 ADV/ $20 DOS \nDoors: 7:00pm \nShow: 8:00pm \nAges: All Ages \nAll-In Pricing Notice \nIn accordance with New York State law\, all ticketed events must display the total price of admission upfront — including all fees\, charges\, and taxes. SUMMARY:John Papa Gros Band w. The Brass Machine @ Town Ballroom The Big Easy in Buffalo NOLA series
DESCRIPTION:John Papa Gros Band w. The Brass BachineThe Big Easy in Buffalo NOLA seriesTown Ballroom (front stage)Friday June 5\, 7pm doors\, 8pm show$20 advance\, $25 day-ofhttps://www.etix.com/ticket/p/45421266/john-papa-gros-band-buffalo-town-ballroom-buffalony \n“John ‘Papa’ Gros is a bedrock New Orleans artist\, a keyboardist\, singer and songwriter who draws on funk\, rhythm & blues and Americana songcraft; he also knows his way around the Mardi Gras music repertoire about as well as anyone.” – Keith Spera The New Orleans Advocate \nBetween 2000 and 2013\, Gros led Papa Grows Funk\, a highly revered group that mixed hard-hitting funk grooves with often unpredictable jazz spontaneity. The band released six critically-acclaimed studio albums. The group’s weekly gigs at the world-famous Maple Leaf became a staple for both locals and tourists alike\, eventually leading to Gros touring in far off countries like Japan and Brazil. \nAfter Papa Grows Funk dissolved\, Gros briefly returned to sideman work\, playing organ for a series of all-star tributes to Dr. John and the Neville Brothers. The 2014 Dr. John tribute\, The Music Mojo of Dr. John\, was later released as a critically-acclaimed live album that featured Gros playing with Bruce Springsteen\, Mavis Staples\, Jason Isbell\, and John Fogerty. More importantly for Gros\, those tribute concerts allowed him to play alongside his two biggest influences: the Doctor and Art Neville\, both of whom passed in 2019. \nTurning his attention back to being a bandleader\, John has now released four albums\, including this year’s “Giants” which pays tribute to some of his main musical influences. “I’m walking in the same path [as Dr. John\, Allen Toussaint\, and Art Neville\,]” explains Gros. “I’ve been following them my whole life. Now\, they’re no longer in front of me. They’ve gotten off the path but the path is still very clear.” \nThe Brass Machine lays down funky New Orleans-style street beats. Formed in 2014 at the University at Buffalo\, The Brass Machine provides a unique blend of jazz\, funk\, and R&B\, all in an infectious and energetic brass-y package. Having performed alongside national acts such as Earth\, Wind\, and Fire\, Starship\, The Soul Rebels\, Rebirth Brass Band\, Bonerama\, John Papa Gros\, CJ Chenier and more – The Brass Machine is hittin’ the streets HARD. Led by frontman “Kidd” Kyle Yagielski\, the group has been named the best FUNK BAND in Western New York three years in a row by JazzBuffalo. If you want to hear music that’s good for your souls and soles\, come party with The Brass Machine! \nSince 2007 The Big Easy in Buffalo has brought New Orleans and Louisiana music and culture to the Western New York region several times a year for free and low cost live performance\, as well as music education and mentoring for local musicians\, students\, and the community. Through The Big Easy in Buffalo thousands of students\, dozens of local bands\, and countless audience members in Western New York have been exposed to this unique American culture. The Big Easy in Buffalo is made possible in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Hochul and the NYS Legislature\, Erie County\, Goldfarb Financial\, Erie County Legislator Michael Kooshoian\, buffalo.fm\, Dick & Jenny’s\, Town Ballroom\, and National Fuel Gas Co.

Dogs In A Pile\, a band of five twenty somethings with old souls and limitless chops\, is waking people up to the timeless and ineffable joys of psychedelic-tinged jazz-funk rock n’ roll. \nThis is one of the busiest touring bands of today\, averaging 130 live shows per year since 2022. The road has become their creative engine\, generating a rapidly growing catalog of original tunes. Distroid\, the band’s newest album\, is a 10-song collection featuring long-awaited studio versions of some of the Dogs’ most beloved repertoire. \nDogs In A Pile is guitarist Jimmy Law\, guitarist Brian Murray\,keyboardist Jeremy Kaplan\, bassist Sam Lucid\, and drummer Joe Babick. In addition\, the Dogs In A Pile community includes the Dog Pound\, the group’s extended family of fans across the country. \nBesides being a lyric from the Grateful Dead song\, “He’s Gone\,” the name “Dogs In A Pile” is an apt description of the five-piece band’s stylistic breadth. The sonic image it conjures is a heap of storyteller Americana\, bluegrass\, jazz improvisation\, eccentric instrumental excursions\, pop-rock sophistication\, and deep-pocket grooves\, ranging from funk to Latin to reggae and beyond. \nDistroid features material that has already become staples of the band’s live show. These studio renditions have afforded the group a chance to present the compositions just how they envision them. Distroid offers a cross-section of the Dogs In A Pile essence\, tight and tuneful four-minute funk and jazz informed psych-rock songs\, and then sprawling 15-minute compositions with intricate unison lines\, agile genre-jumping\, and dazzling improvisation.
