DESCRIPTION:DeeAnn DiMeo and William Green bring together two distinctive musical voices for an evening celebrating some of the most memorable duets in jazz\, soul\, and popular music. \nDOORS @ 6PM / SHOW @ 7PM / 21 & over only\nGuests under 21 will be subject to a surcharge at the door\nSTAGE AREA : Reserved Seating\nBAR AREA: Reserved Seating\nRefunds and exchanges are not available. Tickets can be transferred to another person. \nDeeAnn DiMeo – vocals \nWilliam Green – piano / keyboard / vocals \nCal Palmer – bass \nElton Craig – drums \nAn award-winning vocalist\, DeeAnn is known for a warm\, expressive style that moves naturally between jazz and blues-inflected soul. Atlanta pianist and vocalist William Green brings decades of experience\, combining lyrical playing\, rhythmic ease\, and an instinctive approach to accompanying singers. \nHer latest song\, “Keep Coming Back to You\,” is currently receiving international airplay\, alongside William Green’s “Choose to Love\,” bringing both artists’ music to audiences around the world. \nTogether\, they revisit beloved songs while bringing their own personalities and musical interplay to each performance. Familiar melodies\, unexpected moments\, and the natural chemistry between two seasoned performers make this a night built around great songs and the simple pleasure of hearing them performed live. \nDeeAnn DiMeo is a multiple award-winning Buffalo vocalist and singer-songwriter whose “jazzy soul” style blends jazz\, blues\, and soul. Her 2023 debut album\, It’s My Time\, earned continued recognition in the 2025 JazzBuffalo Poll\, where she was named Jazz Female Vocalist of the Year and received the most votes for the album. \nHer previous honors include Best Female Vocalist at the Buffalo Music Awards\, Best Female Blues Vocalist at the Buffalo NightLife Music Awards\, and recognition from JazzBuffalo for her 2019 EP Stay Here. Her recent recordings include soulful reinterpretations of Al Green’s “Simply Beautiful” and Sade’s “Kiss of Life\,” continuing a career built around bringing her own distinctive voice to jazz\, soul\, blues\, and classic songs. \nWilliam Green is a Chicago-born\, Atlanta-based pianist\, vocalist\, composer\, songwriter\, and producer with more than 40 years in the music industry. His distinctive style draws from contemporary jazz\, R&B\, soul\, pop\, and gospel\, influenced by artists including Herbie Hancock\, George Duke\, Joe Sample\, Stevie Wonder\, and Quincy Jones. \nOver his career\, Green has performed with an impressive roster of artists including Boney James\, Earl Klugh\, Roy Ayers\, Peabo Bryson\, Valerie Simpson\, Kenny Lattimore\, Melba Moore\, Jennifer Holliday\, Jean Carne\, and Curtis Mayfield. He also toured with Susan Tedeschi\, opening for the Rolling Stones\, and has appeared at the Atlanta Jazz Festival and venues around the world\nThanks for supporting PAUSA art house\, our musicians and live music in Buffalo. “Life is better with friends” \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1358123076078412/ \n\nTickets & Event Information

SUMMARY:The Carolyn Lansom Sextet
DESCRIPTION:For Lansom\, a standard isn’t just the notes on the page; it’s a canvas with guidelines to explore and create something fresh and new\, while learning from the talents of those who have performed and studied these melodies in the past. Tickets can be transferred to another person \nDave Lansom / bass\, melodica\, vocals\nGreg Skulicz / guitar\, vocals\nJohn Bacon / drums\nHarry Graser / piano\nDalton Sharp / saxophone\nCarolyn Lansom / lead vocals \nThe Carolyn Lansom Sextet will provide a captivating performance of timeless jazz standards from the Great American Songbook\, alongside original arrangements of cross-genre gems by artists such as Amy Winehouse\, Norah Jones\, and many more. Carolyn thoughtfully crafts each set\, creating a theatrical arc from beginning to end. \nCarolyn is one of Buffalo’s most admired vocalists. Following her summer appearance in Voci d’Amore: Timeless Songs\, a street festival presented by JazzBuffalo and Tappo Restaurant\, Tony Zambito described her as “equally at home interpreting jazz standards\, Broadway favorites\, contemporary classics\, and timeless love songs. Carolyn possesses a rare ability to draw the audience into every lyric she sings.” \nA graduate of Niagara University with a BFA in Theater\, Carolyn is a perennial nominee and winner in the JazzBuffalo Poll. She discovered jazz while living in Japan shortly after college during her husband’s Navy service. Since then\, she has been performing on a variety of stages for more than a decade\, including the main stage at the Northwest Jazz Festival in Lewiston\, NY\, and hopes to perform internationally in the near future. \nAdditionally\, Carolyn serves as the Alto II section leader for the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Buffalo’s critically acclaimed choir\, which will be performing at Carnegie Hall in NYC this upcoming spring. \nJoining Carolyn for the first time at Pausa will be local favorite Dr. John Bacon Jr.\, a true professional and professor of Percussion and Jazz Studies at SUNY Fredonia. Alongside him will be Dave Lansom and Greg Skulicz\, who perform with Carolyn monthly as part of their trio\, Dozo My Lady. \nRounding out the sextet are Harry Graser and Dalton Sharp\, two names familiar to anyone who follows the Buffalo music scene. Together\, they’ll bring an exciting night of music to Pausa on Friday\, November 20th. \nSpecial thanks to the Pausa team for helping make this memorable night of music possible! \nThanks for supporting PAUSA art house\, our musicians and live music in Buffalo. “Life is better with friends” \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1406381080877861/ \n\nTickets & Event Information

SUMMARY:Big Something w/ Big Blitz at Buffalo Iron Works | NOV 20
DESCRIPTION:Big Something performs live at Buffalo Iron Works on Friday\, November 20th! \nBig Something: \nHailing from the North Carolina countryside\, or “The Middle of Nowhere\,” as it’s proudly dubbed on their debut album\, the 6 headed musical monster known as ‘Big Something’ has steadily become one of the most unique and exciting rock bands to emerge from the Southeast. Their musical alchemy is deeply rooted in the strong bond of its members—Nick MacDaniels [lead vocals\, guitar]\, Jesse Hensley [lead guitar\, vocals]\, Casey Cranford [saxophone\, E.W.I. “Electronic Wind Instrument”]\, Ben Vinograd [drums]\, Josh Kagel [keys\, trumpet]\, and Matt Laird [bass]. \nAfter over a decade of touring together with 7 full-length studio albums and even their own Summer music festival The Big What?\, Big Something has emerged as a grassroots phenomenon in the live music community. \n“I’m proud that we’ve stuck together through all of this\,” notes Nick. “We have our own unique thing as a group\, and I’m very excited about where it’s always been going.” \nThe band has progressively evolved their catalog with each subsequent release. From their debut album Stories from the Middle of Nowhere in 2010\, through fan favorites a la Big Something [2013]\, Truth Serum [2014]\, Tumbleweed [2017]\, The Otherside [2018]\, and Escape [2020]\, they have constantly pushed the boundaries of their sound. Among many highlights\, “Song For Us” and “Love Generator” have accumulated millions of Spotify streams\, while their performances at Sweetwater 420 Fest\, Lock’n\, Electric Forest\, Peach Music Festival\, Summer Camp\, High Sierra and 10 years of their own festival\, The Big What? have further solidified their place as luminaries of progressive improvisational rock. \nTheir seventh studio album\, Headspace [out 11/17 on Truth Serum Records]\, is significant for the band in many ways. Featuring a collection of songs written over the past few years as the world emerged from a strange moment in history\, Headspace was inspired in large part by the ongoing conversations surrounding mental health. As the band releases each new single\, they will also spotlight several non-profit organizations focused on helping people navigate mental health and wellness. Headspace will also mark the band’s last studio release with founding members Doug Marshall (bass) and Josh Kagel (keys/trumpet)\, both of whom announced their retirement from touring in 2023. \nFor the new album\, Big Something journeyed to Cannon Falls\, MN to track at the legendary Pachyderm Recording Studios— birthplace of Nirvana’s In Utero\, where they lived together in a guest house overlooking a serene trout stream tucked away into nature. \n“We cooked dinner together every night\, recorded all day\, and really enjoyed a special moment in time making this album\,” Nick goes on. “It was such a cool bonding experience. We really locked in together musically and tried to tap into the special energy at Pachyderm.” \nThat palpable energy surges through the album’s lead track and first single\, “The Mountain.” The six minute-plus epic sinks its teeth in and clenches its jaw\, twisting and turning through organ-laden fuzz towards a rapturous refrain. “The Mountain” carries deeper meaning for the tight-knit group\, and the lyrics pay homage to Nick’s lifelong best friend and frequent collaborator Paul Interdonato\, who wrote a majority of Big Something’s lyrics before his tragic passing in 2017. \n“‘The Mountain’ started with one of the last lyrics I have written down in a journal from Paul\,” Nick goes on. “Coming up the mountain\, I can see it all again – the chorus is a metaphor for getting over trauma.” \nInterdonato’s struggle also inspired the theme of the single “Clouds”. A collaboration with Andy Frasco and Justin Osborne of SUSTO\, the gripping work delves into dark subject matter over a blissful cloud of catchy sounds. Musically\, this is perhaps the most salient display of the breadth of Big Something’s jaw-dropping musicianship and genre fluency. The slinky earworm isn’t easily forgotten\, and showcases head-nodding bass\, slick guitars\, and keys locked into a funky intergalactic strut\, giving way to a distortion-boosted refrain and synth solo. \n“I went to write with Andy in Denver and played him a rough recording of the instrumental\,” recalls Nick. “It didn’t have any lyrics yet\, so he was helping me think of ideas. We landed on the thought of ‘living in the clouds’ as a metaphor for addiction. And the character in the song is a close friend who may never come back down.” \nBig Something leaned into collaboration yet again on “Bob and Weave\,” a track originally penned by another close friend and frequent collaborator\, Josh Phillips from Asheville\, NC. The buoyant track sees otherworldly electronics wheeze as the riff slinks beneath swaggering verses and an uplifting chorus. \n“Getting to know Josh has been so much fun. He’s an incredible singer-songwriter and reminds me a lot of Paul in certain ways. From what I can tell\, ‘Bob and Weave’ is basically about waking up and trying to get through the anxiety of life with the help of friendship — and maybe some cannabis\,” MacDaniels added. \nThen\, there’s “Algorithm\,” a track that serves as a spiritual predecessor to fan favorite “Love Generator.” \n“It’s sort of like a prequel or counterpoint to ‘Love Generator’ which takes place in a distant future where machines learn to love and become human. In ‘Algorithm\,’ humans are shutting down and turning into machines\,” he elaborates. \nRounding out the album\, the band brought everything full circle with a final nod to Paul by re-recording the first Big Something song ever written\, “Amanda Lynn.” Originally released on their 2010 debut album Stories From The Middle of Nowhere\, “Amanda Lynn” features the first lyrics that Interdonato contributed to the band. \n“We thought it was a cool way to connect everything to the roots of our story\,” MacDaniels explained. \nIn the end\, Big Something’s tale is a testament to the power of friendship and that bond burns brighter now than ever as the band prepares to journey across the US for their recently announced HEADSPACE Tour – their biggest headlining tour to date. \n“This started out as a group of friends\, and it’s turned into a family over the years. I love this music and this band and what we do and I hope people can hear and feel that in what we create.” \nBuffalo Iron Works\n49 Illinois St\, Buffalo\, NY 14203\nDoors: 7:00pm\nShow: 8:00pm\nAges: 18+ \nAll-In Pricing Notice\nIn accordance with New York State law\, all ticketed events must display the total price of admission upfront — including all fees\, charges\, and taxes. This means the price you see listed is the final price you’ll pay.
