SUMMARY:Nick Lowe & Los Straitjackets - Sportsmens Park
DESCRIPTION:Sportsmens presents\nNick Lowe & Los Straitjackets\nWednesday\, July 22\, 2026\n$50.00 + Online Fee\nTickets on sale Friday 4/10 12pm\n5pm Doors\, 7pm Showtime\nRain or Shine\, Bring a chair.\nPhoto credit: Dave Brolan \nNick Lowe \nNick Lowe has made his mark as a producer (Elvis Costello-Graham Parker-Pretenders-The Damned)\, songwriter of at least three songs you know by heart\, short-lived career as a pop star\, and a lengthy term as a musicians’ musician. But in his current ‘second act’ as a silver-haired\, tender-hearted but sharp-tongued singer-songwriter\, he has no equal. \nStarting with 1995′s ‘The Impossible Bird’ through to 2011′s ‘The Old Magic\,’ Nick has turned out a fantastic string of albums\, each one devised in his West London home\, and recorded with a core of musicians who possess the same veteran savvy. Lowe brings wit and understated excellence to every performance\, leading Ben Ratliff of the New York Times to describe his live show as “elegant and nearly devastating.” \nIn 2024 he released his latest record ‘Indoor Safari\,’ a collaboration with Los Straitjackets. \nLos Straitjackets \nLos Straitjackets are the leading practitioners of the lost art of the guitar instrumental. Using the music of the Ventures\, The Shadows\, and with Link Wray and Dick Dale as a jumping off point\, the band has taken their unique\, high energy brand of original rock & roll around the world. Clad in their trademark Lucha Libre Mexican wrestling masks\, the “Jackets” have delivered their trademark guitar licks to 16 albums\, thousands of concerts and dozens of films and TV shows. \nTheir latest album ‘Somos Los Straitjackets’ was released in 2025. “The quartet’s time-warped expertise shines through on track after track” – Shindig! SUMMARY:Samantha Fish & Adam Ezra Group
DESCRIPTION:THEME: Rustic & Blues \nSamantha Fish & Adam Ezra Group are bringing the blues & Americana to Rochester. Throw on your favorite flannel\, denim\, and boots\, and get ready for Rustic & Blues night! \nAbout Samantha Fish \nOne of the most formidable guitarists of her generation\, Samantha Fish deals in her own unmatched brand of bravado\, bringing both mind-blowing power and extraordinary emotionality to everything she creates. Since first introducing the world to her larger-than-life talent\, the multi-award-winning festival headliner has built a triumphant career whose latest milestones include earning a Grammy nomination for Death Wish Blues (her 2023 collaboration with rocker Jesse Dayton) and opening for The Rolling Stones on their final 2024 U.S. tour date. On her new album Paper Doll\, Fish offers up nine powerhouse songs that hit with an unstoppable force\, each delivered with an exquisite dose of illuminating insight\, soul-soothing empathy\, and—above all—newly heightened clarity of vision. “It’s taken me years to finally find my voice in a studio setting\,” Fish admits. “But with this record I took everything I had\, and slammed it right on the table.” \nArguably her most accomplished work to date\, Paper Doll emerged from Fish’s deliberate embracing of the ineffable musical gifts she’s cultivated almost her entire life. “When we started working on this record I asked myself\, ‘What are my superpowers?’ I wanted to lean into my strengths in a way I never completely had before\, to make a big guitar album with some epic performances and really sing my ass off\,” she says. “I ended up pouring so much emotion into all the songs\, and I hope they help people feel fired up and ready to take on anything that comes their way. I’d love for this record to be somebody’s jet fuel.” \nhome \n \nhttps://www.youtube.com/@samanthafish3245/featured \nAbout Adam Ezra Group \nWhat has grown over more than two decades of relentless grassroots touring has become something far bigger than a typical touring band: a fiercely independent\, fan-powered community that continues to expand one show at a time. \nBlending folk/Americana soul\, rock ’n’ roll energy\, and deeply human songwriting\, Adam Ezra Group has built one of the most authentic underground followings in live music today while quickly becoming recognized on a national level. Songs\, stories\, and moments unfold in real time—part concert\, part revival\, and part reminder of what live music can still be at its best. \nAs SPIN recently put it\, they are “an independent underground folk band blowing up without selling out\,” a rise that has happened entirely outside the traditional industry system\, powered by word of mouth\, community activism\, and a genuine connection between band and audience that often turns first-time listeners into lifelong fans. \nhttps://adamezra.com/home \nhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQfXbx_uAtzOpakpQZAKgCQ \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/2015316819062170/ \n\nTickets & Event Information \n\n \nTHEME: Rustic & Blues \nSamantha Fish & Adam Ezra Group are bringing the blues & Americana to Rochester. SUMMARY:Alison Krauss & Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas
DESCRIPTION:For nearly four decades\, Alison Krauss & Union Station have upheld their legacy as one of the most influential and widely celebrated acts in bluegrass and roots music. Known for an immaculately crafted but endlessly surprising sound that transcends the boundaries of roots\, country\, rock & roll\, and pop\, Alison Krauss & Union Station released their highly anticipated new album\, Arcadia\, in 2025. \nThis marked their first studio album since the 2011 masterpiece Paper Airplane—a critically lauded\, multiple Grammy Award winning LP that debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country\, Bluegrass\, and Folk Album charts. Over the years\, Alison Krauss & Union Station have brought their phenomenal live show to sold-out performances at famed venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre\, The Greek Theatre\, Radio City Music Hall\, and London’s Royal Festival Hall\, in addition to supporting Paul Simon in Hyde Park for his 2012 Graceland reunion. They now continue the celebration of their new music with the Arcadia 2026 Tour. \nThe players – Alison Krauss (fiddle\, lead vocal)\, Jerry Douglas (Dobro\, lap steel\, vocals)\, Ron Block (banjo\, guitar\, vocals)\, Barry Bales (bass\, vocals)\, and highly acclaimed and celebrated tenor vocalist Russell Moore (guitar\, mandolin\, lead vocal) – are five distinct personalities\, each of whom enjoys a flourishing solo career. But when they come together\, they transform into a peerless group of musicians who share a singular focus. \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/710951522090563/ \n\nTickets & Event Information \n\n \nFor nearly four decades\, Alison Krauss & Union Station have upheld their legacy as one of the most influential and widely celebrated acts in bluegrass and roots music. SUMMARY:Pigeons Playing Ping Pong at Lincoln Hill Farms
DESCRIPTION:Pigeons Playing Ping Pong at Lincoln Hill Farms\nSaturday\, July 25th | Doors 5:30pm | Show 6:30pm \nTickets on sale Friday\, May 1st\, 10am \nFor Pigeons Playing Ping Pong\, music is a living flame—one demanding relentless tending\, fresh\nkindling\, and the collective breath of community to sustain it. On their eighth studio album\,\nFeed The Fire (No Coincidence Records)\, the Baltimore quartet—“Scrambled Greg” Ormont\n[vocals\, guitar]\, Jeremy Schon [guitar\, vocals]\, Ben Carrey [bass\, vocals]\, and Alex “Gator”\nPetropulos [drums\, vocals]—push their psychedelic funk odyssey into its most expansive\nincarnation yet. Across sixteen years\, eight albums\, and countless sweat-soaked performances\,\nPigeons have mastered transformation\, deepening their connection with their devoted fanbase\nand channeling life’s seismic shifts into fuel for their unquenchable fire. “The ‘fire’ represents\nour passion\,” explains Ormont. “Making music feels like something we were born to do… Feed\nThe Fire is the perfect metaphor for our unwavering commitment to keep evolving.” Significant\nmilestones\, from headlining major stages to their fan-centric Domefest\, underscore their\nremarkable journey. \nFeed The Fire shatters boundaries through adventurous collaboration. The band invited\nNashville virtuoso Wes Bailey (Moon Taxi) to co-write the title track’s spiraling guitar hooks—a\nfirst for the group. “As soon as I played him the demo\, he came up with the soaring lead melody\non the spot. It ended up being our first true collaborative writing experience\,” recalls Schon. In\nanother debut\, Ben Carrey steps into the lead vocal spotlight on his heartfelt groove anthem\n“Hit The Ground Runnin’.” Horn collaborators Here Come The Mummies and West End Blend\namplify tracks like “Fantasy” and “Calm Before The Storm\,” while guest producer Chalk Dinosaur\nenhances the psychedelic layers on “Twitch” and “Underworld.” \nThe band’s relentless evolution is evident in standout tracks like the buoyantly infectious “Right\nTrack\,” which distills their live energy into a concise message of resilience and self-trust.\nAccording to Schon\, “Every album we make is a reflection of where we are personally and\nmusically. For Feed The Fire\, we really leaned into exploring textures\, pushing our boundaries\,\nand letting the songs guide us.” From the patient disco-funk simmer of “Fantasy” to the driving\nrebel cry of “Undivided\,” the album showcases the band’s sharpened musicianship and\nrhythmic intuition. \nUltimately\, Feed The Fire is more than an album title—it’s a rallying cry emblematic of Pigeons\nPlaying Ping Pong’s enduring philosophy. Refreshingly dynamic\, resonant\, and irresistibly\ndanceable\, it marks a milestone release poised to captivate listeners across genres. Ormont\nsums it up perfectly: “We’ve been given the gift of this fire\, this passion. So it’s our responsibility\nto nurture it\, embrace it\, and spread it wild. Because when the band and fans reach new heights\ntogether\, that’s the real spark.” \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1677685723427139/ \n\nTickets & Event Information \n\n \nPigeons Playing Ping Pong at Lincoln Hill FarmsSaturday\, July 25th | Doors 5:30pm | Show 6:30pm \nTickets on sale Friday\, May 1st\, 10am \nFor Pigeons Playing Ping Pong\, music is a living flame—one demanding relentless tending\, freshkindling\, and the collective breath of community to sustain it. SUMMARY:Sunny Sweeney - Sportsmens
DESCRIPTION:Sportsmens presents\nSunny Sweeney\nWednesday\, July 29\, 2026 5pm Doors\, 7pm Show\n$25.00 \nFollowing your instincts is not as easy as Sunny Sweeney makes it look. A patron saint of broken hearts on the mend\, Sweeney comforts the rest of us by being honest with herself––and everybody else. She is her generation’s sly country conscience\, warm but stubborn\, sad but funny\, rowdy but thoughtful. \n“I am so glad I’ve been able to get this far in this business and still hold my music values\,” Sweeney says. “Being independent has given me the freedom to do more of what I want.” \nFor Sweeney\, doing what she wants has meant crafting smart honky tonk for about two decades. “I really do love country music\,” she says. “For me\, it’s the stories and hooks.” Her new album Rhinestone Requiem is a delectable testament to that love\, brimming with achingly pretty melodies and grown-up storytelling. It’s also an expertly assembled grab bag of the traditional song structures that have built country music\, one three-quarter whirl at a time. \nIf anyone has the bona fides to be country music’s loving\, defiant standard-bearer\, it’s Sweeney. In addition to releasing 5 critically acclaimed albums since her 2006 debut Heartbreaker’s Hall of Fame\, she has become a trusted song curator and advocate for other artists as the host of her SiriusXM shows The Sunny Side of Life on Outlaw Country and Sunny Side Up on Willie’s Roadhouse. Sweeney keeps adding new feathers to her signature hat: She and her longtime guitarist Harley Husbands produced Rhinestone Requiem and are working as producers on additional projects. “We both have very strong points and very strong opinions\,” Sweeney says of Husbands with a laugh. “But we work very well together.” \nBorn in Houston and raised in East Texas\, Sweeney made her home the road before settling down in the hills of Hendersonville\, Tennessee\, a couple of years ago. The release of Rhinestone Requiem represents another milestone. “This is the first time I’ve made a record when I don’t have relationship problems\,” Sweeney says\, smiling. “My last album\, ‘Married Alone\,’ was made right after my divorce. I’ve lived some life. Not all of it’s been pretty. But I feel like that’s what makes really good music.” \nSweeney takes her calling as friend to the hurt and alone seriously––and Rhinestone Requiem shines because of it. Recorded at Tommy Detamore’s Cherry Ridge Studio in Floresville\, Texas\, the album is a compelling snapshot of an artist who knows who she is and what she loves. “I really wanted this album to be a mixture of all the old styles of country music: Jerry Lee Lewis\, Waylon Jennings\, Loretta Lynn\,” Sweeney says\, ticking off a list of some of her idols. “I make music for myself and hope other people like it.” \nIndeed\, the specter of Lewis looms large from the jump\, as the album kicks off with “Find It Where I Can\,” the sauntering\, boozy warning shot recorded by The Killer\, as well as other giants including Waylon Jennings. Sweeney discovered the song during a late-night YouTube deep dive into videos of Lewis and Mickey Gilley hammering away on dueling baby grands. “You know\, they’re cousins\, and their grandmother taught them how to play piano––that’s why their playing style is so similar!” Sweeney says\, relishing the backstory. “And when I heard this song\, I knew I had to record it. It’s not like anything else I have\, and it’s just so fun to sing and play.” \nJubilantly wry “Diamonds and Divorce Decrees” traces the ruins after a marriage ends\, cataloging the pain but looking stubbornly toward happiness. Sweeney has been playing the song live\, and has been struck by how strongly audiences have responded. “One night after we played it\, a guy came up to the stage and said\, ‘I have three days until my divorce is final\, and this song made me know everything is going to be fine\,’” Sweeney says. \nWritten with dear friend and frequent collaborator Brennen Leigh\, “Traveling On” is a superbly crafted heartbreaker showcasing the devastating power of Sweeney’s voice. Written with Ben Chapman and Erin Enderlin\, “Is Tonight the Night (I Make You a Memory)” starts off slow and sad\, before speeding up into a bouncy\, steel-laced shuffle worthy of The Mavericks. Another Enderlin and Sweeney collaboration with the addition of Gary Nicholson\, “I Drink Well with Others” is a winking dancehall duster\, while “As Long as There’s a Honky Tonk”––written with Buddy Owens and Galen Griffin––is a swaggering\, piano-soaked proclamation of independence. \nOne of only two album tracks Sweeney didn’t have a hand in writing\, “Last Hard Bible” nods to the whimsical grit of its writer and original recording artist\, Kasey Chambers\, as Sweeney steers the song firmly into saloon-worthy territory. Chambers and her brother\, Nash\, provide harmonies on Sweeney’s track. When Sweeney joins Chambers for shows in the summer of 2025\, it will mark a full-circle moment for Sweeney\, who is a longtime fan of the Australian singer-songwriter. \nWith crying steel\, “Waiting for a Reason to Stay” tearfully harnesses the potential of conversational songwriting. “I’ve always wondered what was wrong with me\,” Sweeney sings\, opening the song with gut-wrenching directness. What follows is a meditation on the days after you’ve decided to go––but haven’t left yet. “I’ve had records about the bad side of divorce\,” Sweeney says. “This is the light at the end of the tunnel.” Written with Owens and Monty Holmes\, album closer “Half Lit in 3/4 Time” is a masterclass in country songwriting\, as line after line pays tribute to honky tonk’s beloved instruments and golden standards. Featuring mournful fiddle\, “Houston Belongs to Me” already sounds like a classic\, as Sweeney’s resilient narrator lays claim to a hot\, complex city that she loves. “It’s healing: You’re taking ownership of where you are\,” Sweeney says. \nIt’s an idea Sweeney has embraced in various ways throughout her career: Lean into who and what you are––and revel in the liberation that brings. Her fierce independence has allowed her to speak to us with the care of a trusted confidant who sees our hurts and is rooting for us. “I feel like that’s what I grew up loving about music––I felt like I was their friend\,” Sweeney says. “I felt like they were talking––singing––to me.” \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/922134300703419/ \n\nTickets & Event Information \n\n \nSportsmens presentsSunny SweeneyWednesday\, July 29\, 2026 5pm Doors\, 7pm Show$25.00 \nFollowing your instincts is not as easy as Sunny Sweeney makes it look.
