SUMMARY:Mike DelGuidice – Live In Concert
DESCRIPTION:Twenty6 Productions Presents: Kitchen Dwellers & Dogs in a Pile at Town Ballroom on Thursday\, October 29th! \nKitchen Dwellers:\nKitchen Dwellers continue to carve out their own lane in the world of progressive roots music\, blending bluegrass\, folk\, and psychedelic grit into a sound as expansive as their Montana home. The Bozeman-born quartet of Shawn Swain (mandolin)\, Torrin Daniels (banjo)\, Joe Funk (upright bass)\, and Max Davies (acoustic guitar) has grown from regional upstarts into one of the most dynamic and forward-thinking bands in modern string music. Their catalog pairs instrumental virtuosity with emotional storytelling\, an exploratory spirit\, and a deep connection to the American West. \nIn 2024\, Kitchen Dwellers released their latest full-length studio album\, Seven Devils\, which\narrived on March 1 and debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Bluegrass Albums chart. The\nrecord expanded the band’s creative reach and reinforced their place at the forefront of\nprogressive roots and bluegrass. \nThe band’s newest release\, The Katabatic EP\, highlights another side of their creative arc.\nRecorded in late November 2021 at Mighty Fine Studios in Denver and Peach Street Studios in\nBozeman\, the three-song EP captures a vivid snapshot of wintertime inspiration in Montana. Rooted in sweeping landscapes and natural contrasts\, the EP blends mythic lyricism\, atmospheric instrumental interplay\, and a progressive blend of bluegrass\, folk\, and americana that has become the group’s signature. \nThe song “Madison” tells the story of a mystified angler on the Madison River\, drawing parallels between love and the unpredictable rhythms of fishing. The instrumentals “Mimas and Ida” and “Katabatic” broaden the sonic palette with guest trumpeter Eric “Benny” Bloom of Lettuce\, whose brass textures add lift\, spark\, and momentum. Shifting grooves\, evolving tempos\, and evocative melodies evoke mountain valleys\, windswept terrain\, and orbiting moons. The EP was produced by Kitchen Dwellers\, mixed by Stephan Gueguen and Max Davies\, and mastered by Stephan Gueguen. \nKitchen Dwellers have continued to earn national attention through consistent touring\, acclaimed studio work\, and an expanding grassroots following. Their studio album discography includes Ghost in the Bottle (2017)\, Muir Maid (2019)\, Wise River (2022)\, and Seven Devils (2024). Collectively\, these releases have amassed more than 15 million streams across platforms\, with recent NOCO releases accounting for more than 8 million.\nTheir vibrant live show has taken them to major festivals and iconic stages across the country. The band has performed at Bonnaroo Music Festival\, Telluride Bluegrass\, Under The Big Sky\, WinterWonderGrass\, Northwest String Summit\, and more. They have also achieved career milestones by headlining Red Rocks Amphitheatre and headlining the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. \nAlong the way\, Kitchen Dwellers have received praise from outlets such as Bluegrass Today\, Huffington Post\, Relix\, American Songwriter\, and additional national publications.\nKitchen Dwellers continue to evolve while staying rooted in the landscapes and creative curiosity that shaped them. With Seven Devils marking a major milestone and The Katabatic EP offering a distilled burst of artistic expression\, the band remains committed to pushing the boundaries of modern bluegrass and exploring new musical terrain. \nDogs in a Pile:\nSomething organic has been blooming from Asbury Park\, New Jersey\, and is now making its way around the world. Dogs In A Pile\, a band of five twenty somethings with old souls and limitless chops\, is waking people up to the timeless and ineffable joys of psychedelic-tinged jazz-funk rock n’ roll. \nThis is one of the busiest touring bands of today\, averaging 130 live shows per year since 2022. The road has become their creative engine\, generating a rapidly growing catalog of original tunes. Distroid\, the band’s newest album\, is a 10-song collection featuring long-awaited studio versions of some of the Dogs’ most beloved repertoire. \nDogs In A Pile is guitarist Jimmy Law\, guitarist Brian Murray\, keyboardist Jeremy Kaplan\, bassist Sam Lucid\, and drummer Joe Babick. In addition\, the Dogs In A Pile community includes the Dog Pound\, the group’s extended family of fans across the country. \nBesides being a lyric from the Grateful Dead song\, “He’s Gone\,” the name “Dogs In A Pile” is an apt description of the five-piece band’s stylistic breadth. The sonic image it conjures is a heap of storyteller Americana\, bluegrass\, jazz improvisation\, eccentric instrumental excursions\, pop-rock sophistication\, and deep-pocket grooves\, ranging from funk to Latin to reggae and beyond. \nDistroid features material that has already become staples of the band’s live show. These studio renditions have afforded the group a chance to present the compositions just how they envision them. Distroid offers a cross-section of the Dogs In A Pile essence\, tight and tuneful four-minute funk and jazz informed psych-rock songs\, and then sprawling 15-minute compositions with intricate unison lines\, agile genre-jumping\, and dazzling improvisation \nTown Ballroom:\n681 Main St\, Buffalo\, NY 14203\nDoors: 7:00pm\nShow: 8:00pm\nAges: 18+ \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1365156872409310/ \n\nTickets & Event Information \n\n \nYouth mental health is a community priority\, and we all have a role to play! \nJoin educators\, mental health professionals\, community partners and advocates at the 2nd Annual SMART Youth Mental Health Summit on September 16 at the Buffalo Convention Center. \nTogether\, we will share strategies\, build connections and explore ways to strengthen mental health and wellness supports for youth and families. \nLearn More and Register Today: https://communityschools.e1b.org/smart/mental-health-summit

Since the release of her 2024 album Trail Of Flowers (Rounder Records)\, the West Virginia-born singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist took home the Artist of the Year and Album of the Year prizes at the Americana Honors & Awards\, and won four GRAMMY awards for Best Americana Album (Trail of Flowers)\, Best American Roots Performance (“Lighthouse”)\, Best Americana Performance (“American Dreaming”)\, and Best American Roots Song (“American Dreaming”). Ferrell has collaborated with the likes of Margo Price\, Old Crow Medicine Show\, and Post Malone\, and enchanted audiences all over North America and Europe with her high-spirited and dazzling live performance. On Trail Of Flowers\, the Nashville-based artist expands her sound while deepening the urgency of her songs\, often revealing a wealth of wisdom within her wildly imaginative storytelling. \nHer first full-length since Long Time Coming—a 2021 release that drew praise from outlets like Pitchfork\, Paste\, Pop Matters\, and No Depression—Trail Of Flowers came to life with producer Eddie Spear (Zach Bryan\, Brandi Carlile\, Chris Stapleton) and additional production by Gary Paczosa (Alison Krauss\, Dwight Yoakam\, Gillian Welch) and with such esteemed musicians as Chris Scruggs. In keeping with a musical upbringing that included playing everywhere from truck stops to boxcars to New Orleans street corners\, the album journeys from freewheeling bluegrass to heartrending old-time music to fantastically gritty honky-tonk and beyond\, endlessly changing shape to accommodate the immense scope of Ferrell’s eccentric musicality. Mainly recorded at Sound Emporium Studios and featuring guest appearances from singer/songwriters Lukas Nelson and Nikki Lane\, Trail Of Flowers ultimately fulfills her longstanding mission of making music that transcends all barriers of time. “I wanted to create something that makes people feel nostalgic for the past\, but excited about the future of music\,” Ferrell points out. \nInstantly proving her extraordinary capacity to merge timeless musicianship with lyrics exploring modern concerns\, Trail Of Flowers opens on “American Dreaming”: a world-weary yet soul-stirring track that speaks to the struggle to build a good life in a culture consumed by capitalism. Another song informed by her singular outlook on the modern world\, “Fox Hunt” takes the form of a furiously stomping epic driven by galloping rhythms and some feverish fiddle work from Ferrell. On “Rosemary\,” she delves further into her old-time roots and delivers the album’s most haunting moment: a stark but spellbinding story-song graced with a few bars of soulful yodeling. A profoundly gifted vocalist\, Ferrell often captures an entire world of feeling in just a single line\, particularly on tracks like “Dollar Bill Bar”—a swinging but wistful number on which she cycles from longing to regret to devil-may-care attitude with impossible ease. And on “I Could Drive You Crazy\,” Ferrell serves up one of the most joyful moments on Trail Of Flowers\, sharing a harmony-fueled and singalong-ready love song that’s both self-effacing and gloriously fun. \nIn selecting a title for her latest body of work\, Ferrell chose to reference her deep love of flowers and affinity for surrounding herself with gorgeously colorful blossoms—a perfect reflection of her wondrous inner world. As a listening experience\, Trail Of Flowers provides a similar sensation of all-enveloping and off-kilter beauty—one that Ferrell hopes might lift others into a more charmed state of mind. “I’m just trying to put words and melodies together and build it into something people can pour their feelings too\, all their happiness and sorrows\, so that it changes their reality a little bit and gives them some comfort\,” she says. “To me music is like medicine. And whenever I write a song and it feels healing to me\, I know it can heal other people too.”

SUMMARY:Sunny Side Jazz Band - The Big Easy in Buffalo NOLA Series
DESCRIPTION:Sunny Side Jazz Band – The Big Easy in Buffalo NOLA SeriesSaturday\, August 22Show at 7pmDuende at Silo City – INDOORS UPSTAIRS BIN FLOOR STAGEFree (but please tip the band)\, All Ages \nNew Orleans Trad Jazz band Sunny Side returns to Buffalo for their annual trad jazz dance party! Weather-permitting\, we’ll be outside with plenty of room to dance\, so bring a chair as there’s limited seating (in case of rain\, we’ll move inside to the bin floor upstairs). \nSunny Side\, a jazz band based out of New Orleans\, is heavily influenced by the music of Louis Armstrong\, Duke Ellington\, Nat King Cole\, Fats Waller\, and many other early jazz legends. During the 2020/2021 quarantine\, Sunny Side provided a ‘Jazz in Coliseum Square Park’ series in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans hosting a variety of live music including themselves. Many locals expressed much gratitude for the music during the challenging time. Sunny Side is planning their sixth national tour for summer 2026. \nSince 2007 The Big Easy in Buffalo has brought New Orleans and Louisiana music and culture to the Western New York region several times a year for free and low cost live performance\, as well as music education and mentoring for local musicians\, students\, and the community. Through The Big Easy in Buffalo thousands of students\, dozens of local bands\, and countless audience members in Western New York have been exposed to this unique American culture. The Big Easy in Buffalo is made possible in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Hochul and the NYS Legislature\, Erie County Legislator Michael Kooshoian\, Erie County\, The Cullen Foundation\, Goldfarb Financial\, Buffalo.fm\, National Fuel Gas Co.\, Dick & Jenny’s\, and Duende.
