SUMMARY:Start Making Sense: A Tribute to Talking Heads & The Dip
DESCRIPTION:About Start Making Sense \nThe music of Talking Heads has excited\, inspired\, and healed folks worldwide since their first show at CBGB’s in 1975.If David Byrne is one of the geniuses of modern times\, then Start Making Sense is a tribute to genius. The musicians in this seven-piece band celebrate the entire Talking Heads’ catalog\, meticulously executing the sounds and iconic live visual elements in every performance\, bringing so much of the Heads unique live show that you know and love to the stage. \nhttps://www.startmakingsenseband.com/ \nhttps://www.youtube.com/@StartMakingSenseBand \nAbout The Dip \nThe Dip is a Seattle-based Rhythm and Blues band that is known for its poignant songwriting\, detailed arrangements\, and vintage sound. Featuring a three-piece horn section\, the group’s music harkens back to earlier soul and funk influences while hinting at the jazz foundations that brought the band’s members together. \nWith a distinct sonic character that has drawn in millions of listeners to date\, The Dip released their latest\, fourth full-length studio album ‘Love Direction’ in July 2024. It is their second with Dualtone Records\, the follow-up to 2022’s ‘Sticking With It’ which landed at #1 on the Billboard Current R&B Albums Chart. \nThe band headlined and sold out shows at iconic venues across the country last year including San Francisco’s legendary Fillmore\, Washington DC’s 9:30 Club\, Webster Hall in New York\, Austin’s historic Scoot Inn\, two nights at Thalia Hall in Chicago and two hometown shows at The Showbox in Seattle. They have also had the opportunity to support new friends like The Black Pumas and The Teskey Brothers\, while also appearing at major festivals including Bonnaroo and Outside Lands. \nhttps://thedipmusic.com/ \nhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcu0I8_yyc72CHUEYIcIekA \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/945436088344094/ \n\nTickets & Event Information \n\n \nAbout Start Making Sense \nThe music of Talking Heads has excited\, inspired\, and healed folks worldwide since their first show at CBGB’s in 1975.If David Byrne is one of the geniuses of modern times\, then Start Making Sense is a tribute to genius. SUMMARY:Tom Toles & Junkman's Choir benefiting Investigative Post
DESCRIPTION:Investigative Post is a serious outfit\, but we like to have fun once in a while. Such is the case with our upcoming benefit concert at Sportsmen’s Tavern. \nTom Toles and Junkman’s Choir will once again provide the entertainment\, offering two sets of rollicking rock ’n’ roll on Thursday\, July 30. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and music will commence at 6:30 and run until about 9:30. Tickets are $25. \nProceeds will help fund Investigative Post’s award-winning reporting. We’re a nonprofit and the only news outlet in Western New York focused on watchdog journalism. \n“Supporting Investigative Post is one immediate\, effective way to help preserve honesty in government\, freedom of speech\, and American traditions of citizen involvement in our democracy\,” Toles said. \n“It’s not every day you get to have so much fun doing something so valuable for Buffalo.” \nHave fun supporting a good cause – Investigative Post. \nTom Fischer\, bass player with the Junkman’s Choir\, added: “We’ve been doing this show with Tom Toles on and off for almost 10 years. It’s always a fun time whether it’s your first or fifth time. \n“A splendid time is guaranteed for all! And\, of course\, it’s for a great cause!” \nToles is the Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoonist\, late of The Washington Post and Buffalo News. He presently serves on Investigative Post’s board of directors. \nThe Junkman’s Choir includes Fischer\, Jim Celeste\, Carl Krahling and Bill Blanford. \nSportsmen’s Tavern\, considered Buffalo’s premier music club\, is located at 326 Amherst St.\, near Grant Street\, in the city’s Black Rock neighborhood. \nLast year’s show attracted a standing-room-only crowd of about 300. Buy your tickets now to avoid the risk of a sell-out. \n“This may be the best donation you make this year\,” Toles said. \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1931561737543544/ \n\nTickets & Event Information \n\n \nInvestigative Post is a serious outfit\, but we like to have fun once in a while.
