Music has the power to move us—literally, figuratively, and spiritually. It motivates us to rise above the challenges of our daily lives and, on a larger scale, face the world’s struggles. Through an unspoken sonic communion between three distinct musical identities, SunSquabi—Kevin Donohue [guitar, keys, production], Josh Fairman [bass, synth], and Scotty Zwang [drums]—ignite action and inspiration with their signature live electronica sound. With millions of streams and electrifying performances at iconic venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre, they’re pushing boundaries with each release. Following their acclaimed Cloudburst EP, they’re ready to inspire listeners again with their latest project, the Grind EP, showcasing a new era for the band.
“After the past few years of hardships, we wanted to create music that reflects perseverance and evolution,” explains Kevin. “These new releases capture how we’ve grown during challenging times. Grind is about doing whatever it takes to move forward.”
Since 2015, SunSquabi has brought their unique blend of live electronic funk to audiences around the world. Releases like Odyssey [2016], Deluxe EP [2017], and Instinct [2019] have solidified their reputation as a must-see live act, with praise from outlets like 303 Magazine, JamBase, and Live For Live Music. WestWord noted their “electrifying moments,” while ThisSongIsSick praised, “SunSquabi never fails to bring the funk.” Along the way, they’ve sold out venues coast-to-coast and performed three unforgettable Red Rocks shows, capturing one in their release, SunSquabi (Live at Red Rocks). Collaborations with artists like The String Cheese Incident, Late Night Radio, Lettuce, and GRiZ have only expanded their creative horizons.
During the Pandemic, SunSquabi focused on writing and recording, turning jam sessions into fully-realized songs. “A lot of tracks started as improvised jams during live streams,” recalls Kevin. “We used that time to craft our ideas and make them come alive in the studio.”
Josh adds, “We stayed true to who we are and to each other. We didn’t chase trends; we made music that felt genuine to us. The Grind EP is a testament to that authenticity.”
SunSquabi’s latest work reflects their journey and resilience. The Cloudburst EP and the upcoming Grind EP continue to embody the band’s commitment to creating an uplifting, groovy, and soulful experience. In the end, SunSquabi’s mission remains the same: to elevate spirits and encourage listeners to rise above any obstacles in their path.

Motifv, the musical moniker of Joseph Kechter, is a 26 year old musician and producer born and raised in the foothills of Northern Colorado. His beautifully blunted beats meander between futuristic synthesis and collages of gospel and soul. Motifv has maintained an almost analog mystique, which is influenced by his surroundings and also reflected in his visual offerings. His debut album, “The Path,” was self released in 2019 to much acclaim and has garnered him a loyal following. As he continued to expand perspective and explore more genre-bending techniques, his sophomore album “Dilated Mind” flowed through stereos in 2021 via Featherweight Records. As he begins to navigate new horizons and express himself beyond words, you will now find him deep in the studio, constantly cooking up something for the future.
