Sentinel 6 and Tortoise Forest @Mr. Goodbar
May 24 @ 10:00 am – May 25 @ 2:00 am
Sentinel 6 and Tortoise Forest @Mr. Goodbar @ Mr. Goodbar | Buffalo | NY | United States

Kick off your Memorial Day Weekend with a blast! Sentinel 6 and Tortoise Forest are bringing you a night of face-melting, Earth-shaking, sky-splitting, soul-rendering ethereal jams.

Sentinel 6
Fusing elements of groove rock, dubstep, metal, hip-hop and funk, Sentinel 6 stands to protect the integrity of live music and vanguard a new generation.

Tortoise Forest
Tortoise Forest coalesced in 2015 as the creative outlet for a trio of Buffalo music store coworkers – Mike Cassidy (guitar), Max Davis (guitar), and Tom Varco (bass). The pieces were in place – a shared musical knowledge, an affinity for improvisation, and of course a near obsession with guitar pedals and effects. The inherent chemistry breathed life into the nascent project, and in a matter of weeks they were writing dynamic pieces of epic proportions. Their lush harmonies emanate like the fractal branches of a thousand trees, and their rhythms stomp the ground harder than the shell on a turtle’s back. Their sound is as captivating as it is ambitious – live performances run the gamut from edgy prog, upbeat jams, ethereal electronics, and frenetic funk. Even splashes of Latin and polka don’t sound out of place in such a diverse musical setting.

The Second After : https://www.facebook.com/thesecondafterofficialband/

Emerging out of Durham, NC, The Second After sets their sights on bringing their own unique style to the pop-punk music scene. The foursome formed out of a group of life-long friendships in late 2014 and consists of Michael Greason (vocals), Ryan McDonald (drums), Nolan Shambley (bass), and Alfred Williamson (guitar/vocals). With deeply intricate and hard-thought melodies and harmonies, combined with “bouncy” and exciting energetic riffs, they are prepared to take their music scene by storm, and reignite a passion for a genre that has meant so much to so many. With touring up and down the east coast and opening for bigger bands, such as Waterparks and Four Years Strong, at their local NC shows, the band has started to make waves. The group recorded and released their first EP “Hit & Run” in late 2015, followed by the single “Judy Can Judge Me All She Wants”, released in August 2016. In early 2017 they released two acoustic singles, “Before I Lose” on Valentine’s Day, and “All In, Or Nothing At All” released in early June. When talking about the band’s development and drive, The Second After said, “The roots of the friendships within this band run deep. We’ve been through a lot in life together and we’re all about positivity, community, and making the most out of every moment. We wanted to capture something that was as catchy and approachable as the music we grew up in love with, but with our own take on a heavy and energetic sound, inductive of crowd interaction, that would translate well to our live show.”

In late 2017, The Second After signed with Revival Recordings! With the announcement of signing to a label, the band also released their first single off their EP, Treadmill At The Finish Line, titled “Homewreck Sick.” The Second After does not look to be slowing down anytime soon with the releasing of their EP and touring heavily in the coming year. Treadmill At The Finish Line was released in March 2018 and is available for streaming and purchase on all digital platforms now!

Machine Revving Tension w/ Hipnosis: A Night in Bobcaygeon @ Buffalo Iron Works | Buffalo | NY | United States

Friday, May 24th – Machine Revving Tension w/ Hipnosis Present: A Night in Bobcaygeon (Tragically Hip Tribute)

-Doors: 8:00pm, show: 9:00pm
-Tickets: $10 (100% of ticket sales donated to The PUNT Fund “Childhood Cancer Treatment”
-Ages: 18

On June 25th, 2011, over 24,000 devoted fans, including some of the musicians performing in this show, made the pilgrimage to a farmer’s field in a little town in Ontario and witnessed a concert for the ages. It became what Gord Downie referred to as, “a formal affair” beneath the constellations.

Join us as Machine Revving Tension and Hipnosis join forces at Buffalo Iron Works for what will be a very special evening celebrating the life, beauty, passion, and genius of Gord Downie and The Tragically Hip! Re-live that special concert in Bobcaygeon, as we reveal that same set to you…one song at a time.

In the spirit of Gord, ALL PROCEEDS from the event will be donated to the P.U.N.T. FUND, an amazing organization in the Western New York area making a difference in the lives of children facing childhood cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

Mark your calendars; May 24th, 2019 is an event you do not want to miss!
